This wolf-dog cross is not legal to own within many city limits. It has happened on more than one occasion where these dogs have been taken from their owners who have not obeyed the county and state laws. One thing you should ask yourself before searching for a Wolamute puppy for sale is: are you really physically and mentally strong enough to own such a powerful dog? Wolamute (Wolomute) Hybrid Temperament:
It is tough to say how each Wolamute hybrid cross will act. This does not mean that all wolf-dog mixes behavior is erratic, but it is safe to say far less predictable. The Wolamute dog breed is a mixture of wild genetic traits of a wolf, and the more domesticated characteristics of the Malamute dog breed. Wolamute dog breeders will find some pups to exhibit more traits of the wolf and others of the Malamute, but are well tempered to their masters regardless of which side of the spectrum they take after more. When it comes to strangers, a controlled and calm environment will need to be made for the introduction to take place. It may not seem like a big deal to us humans, but strangers are always a big deal for dogs. Both the wolf and the Malamute dog breed is aloof with strangers, and do prefer to be away from large boisterous crowds. Highly stressed Wolamutes will act out by digging, chewing, or overly “marking” their territorial boundary with urine. This is a natural thing to do outside, but inside the house is unacceptable. More damage will be done than good if you leave a Wolamute alone and confined for long periods of time. If left in an empty room, be prepared to have a few holes ripped out of the dry wall. The Wolamute dog breed doesn’t just need room to roam, but needs space to be able to lay in a corner alone and not bothered to take a long awaited nap. This allows for them to
feel at peace.
The Wolamute is not for everyone. Proper education on what this breed requires is imperative before purchasing a Walomute puppy for sale. Many people will ooh and awe over having a wolf mix, but it won’t always end up being all its cracked up to be. It is not suggestible to own a Wolamute if you have small children or are about to have small children. Older Wolamutes may also not accept new or existing dogs, and either need to be brought up together young or not integrated after a certain age. The dog and wolf world uphold to hierarchy. Not all animals want to have a playmate other than their masters. Wolamute (Wolomute) Hybrid Appearance:
There has been many wolf-dog hybrids said to be what they were, but in fact were sadly not. Many wolf-dog crosses have had their markings misinterpreted. There was a study by the RSPCA during the turn of the 21st century that DNA tested the bloodlines of Wolamute breeders and found a large portion of them had indeterminable levels of the wolf gene, the same gene found linking all dog breeds. This finding implied that the majority of the Wolamute hybrid dog breeders were uneducated, and based their knowledge on physical fur markings instead of basing it on the pedigree of breeding stock. If it looked like a wolf it must be a wolf hybrid right? Obviously not.
Both the Timber Wolf and the Malamute are large breed dogs. The markings can be mask like, or solid tones from black, white, cream, and silver. The darker markings will withstand longer than lighter markings throughout the Wolamute’s lifetime. The physical characteristics of any hybrid let alone a wolf dog cross is not predictable, and as of yet to be standardized or to be recognized by any kennel clubs. Much with the Labradoodle, it took time for them to be recognized. Only time will tell if the Wolamute dog breed will ever achieve recognition.

Wolamute (Wolomute) Hybrid History and Origins:
Since the beginning of the 21st century, researchers in the genetics of wolf and dog connections show that it was about 15,000 years ago that the separation of the two occurred. Since that time, inter-mixed breeding of the two has happened, but has resulted in a wide variety of dissimilarities. Many offspring were noted to be quite larger than either of the parents. Many of these early wolf dog crosses occurred naturally with no regulation. Either a wolf would break its way onto a farm and mate with female dog in heat , or the farmers dog would escape for a few weeks and return pregnant. Accidents and nature always find a way. Wolamute (Wolomute) Hybrid Mortality:
Wild animals such as the Timber wolf rarely fall victim to dog like ailments like cancer, hip and elbow dysplasia or arthritis. Though this is a good thing, the downside is there is really not very many veterinarians with the experience of Wolf Hybrid crosses. As of yet there has been no FDA approved vaccines for the Wolamute dog breed.

Wolamute (Wolomute) Hybrid Summary:
The fact that the Wolamute dog breed has specific needs is not something to ignore for selfish “I want” reasons. Knowing what the Wolamute dog breed is about, and how it would fit into your lifestyle are things to consider when wanting to add them to your home. Even if you have plenty of space, the Wolamute dog breed requires continual hands on time with the handler in order for them to adjust to their new home, and know who is the boss.
